Monique in Red Hat with Purple Background

Derek Alvarez, Monique in Red Hat with Purple Background, iPad Painting using Skecthbook Pro, 2012

I decided to paint an iPad version of Monique in her red hat. In the process of painting this, the painting progressed from a simple cartoonish version… to a French “Moulin Rouge” look… to what you see now, which I can see a little bit of Matisse and a dash of Modigliani.
